Dr. Nyasha Spears
With over 20 years experience as a full-spectrum family physician, I have truly come to appreciate the power and importance of the doctor-patient relationship. I have worked with thousands of patients of all ages and I am well equipped to help treat, manage, and guide patients with the majority of their health concerns.

I believe that high quality primary care should be accessible to everyone and that everyone deserves a trusted physician. I believe that each of us is beautifully unique and that each person’s path shapes their health. I am honored to guide patients as they navigate the often confusing healthcare information superhighway. I seek to empower patients with the knowledge to make good choices about prevention and treatment of disease, and motivation to pursue a healthy lifestyle so that they can live life to the fullest. I keep up to date on the best practices in medicine. And, I am continually learning about the best ways to serve patients. I am thrilled to bring Direct Primary Care to the Lake Superior region.
My formative years were spent in North Dakota after which I attended Grinnell College in Iowa where I majored in History. A summer internship with the Frontier Midwife Nursing Service in Kentucky led me to a career in medicine.
My physician uncle inspired me to become a family physician. I received my medical degree at the University of Minnesota and came to Duluth to complete my residency training. Residency was rewarding hard work. During that time I fell in love with the Lake Superior region and a fellow resident who became my husband (also a family doc). After residency, we moved to Ashland, WI to work with an incredible group of family physicians at the Chequamegon Clinic for 10 years. We relocated to Duluth in 2014 to be closer to my family and I practiced with the P.S. Rudie Clinic in downtown Duluth prior to its closure in 2025.
