Frequently Asked Questions

UNDERSTANDING DIRECT PRIMARY CARE

  • Direct care is a health care model that does not bill insurance. Patients pay a direct fee to their doctor and in return receive comprehensive primary care with their chosen physician. Patients have a direct line of communication with their doctor and can expect same day or next day appointments with little to no wait times. There are no copays or surprise bills.

  • Direct Primary Care works by stepping outside of the traditional insurance system. By removing insurance billing and third-party middlemen, we greatly reduce overhead costs and administrative waste. Those savings are passed directly on to our patients.

Keeping things simple allows us to focus on care instead of paperwork.

  • There is an incredible amount of waste in our current insurance-driven healthcare system. By cutting out the middlemen and reducing complexity, we create more time for what matters most — building relationships and spending meaningful time with patients.

Direct Primary Care allows us to do what we love and are best at: care for people.

  • No, this is not concierge medicine. Typically, concierge practices charge a yearly fee well beyond the fees at Amity Creek in addition to billing your insurance.

SERVICES

  • Yes, I am a board-certified family physician (and mom!) and love taking care of children.

  • Yes, I provide birth control pills, implant devices and IUD’s (IUD will be an additional fee and can be billed through insurance if needed.)

  • Yes, we are happy to treat perimenopause and menopause with hormone replacement therapy. We do not offer pellet therapy.

We also provide hormone replacement therapy for gender care.

  • We will not be accepting any new patients who are requesting narcotic pain medication for the treatment of chronic pain.  The science is clear that long term use of narcotics for chronic non-cancer pain should be avoided. However, we have experience in using non-narcotic treatments to address chronic pain, and plan to discuss those options with our patients when necessary.   Additionally, we will not be prescribing controlled sedatives for the treatment of chronic anxiety.  If you have specific questions about this, they can be discussed at a meet and greet where you can decide if membership with us is the right choice for you.

  • At Amity Creek Primary Care, the health and safety of our entire community is our highest priority. We are honored to care for individuals who are especially vulnerable including our patients undergoing chemotherapy or living with immunosuppression. As physicians, we feel a responsibility to help protect them.

To help protect these individuals, we recommend that all patients receiving care at our clinic be vaccinated in accordance with recommendations supported by the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

These recommended vaccines include protection against:

    • MMR

    • DtaP

    • IPV

    • Varicella (chickenpox)

    • Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)

    • Pneumococcal disease

    • Meningococcal disease

    • Hepatitis A and B

    • HPV

    • Annual covid/flu vaccinations

Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to reduce the spread of preventable illnesses and to maintain a safe environment for patients who may not be able to mount a full immune response on their own.

We recognize that healthcare decisions are deeply personal, and this recommendation is grounded in compassion, respect, and a shared responsibility to protect those at highest risk. Our goal is to foster a safe, caring, and inclusive clinical environment for everyone we serve.

We appreciate your understanding and your partnership in keeping our community healthy.
